  • Inconsistence between meteogram in weather map and forecast
    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

Hello, and thank you for your question.

The two meteograms for LSZK Speck-Fehraltorf may differ because they can originate from different forecast update times or model runs, resulting in variations in timing or forecast values. They might also be based on different forecast systems or models with distinct spatial and temporal resolutions, which influences the displayed data. Additionally, the embedded meteogram on the weather map and the all-in-one meteogram may use different data sources or resolutions, causing discrepancies.

The terrain altitude shown in the meteograms is based on the average altitude of the grid cell rather than the exact location altitude, which can affect the visual representation, especially in areas with complex terrain.

We hope we were able to answer your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.

  • Where is the Premium Subscription?
    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

Hello, and thank you for your question.
A Premium subscription purchased through the mobile app is handled by the respective app store (Google Play or the Apple App Store) and is linked to the store account used for the purchase, not to your meteoblue website account. This means benefits such as the ad-free experience and the 14-day forecast are available only in the app, when you are signed in with the store account that made the purchase.
Subscriptions for the app and the website are separate, so opening the meteoblue website on a new computer will not carry over the app subscription features.
    Best regards,

Hello, and thank you for your question.

Due to EU data protection regulations, meteoblue must display a cookie consent dialogue with options for cookie usage, even for point+ subscribers without advertising. While third-party cookies related to ads are disabled with your subscription, essential cookies remain necessary for full website functionality. The consent dialogue should not reappear once accepted, as your acceptance is stored in your browser.

  • meteoblue Ad-free / Premium on different devices
    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

Hello, and thank you for your question.

Subscriptions purchased through mobile apps are linked to the Apple ID or Google Play account used for the purchase and only function on devices using the same store account. Website subscriptions are separate, tied to meteoblue web accounts, and do not extend to mobile apps. Consequently, app and website subscriptions operate independently, requiring separate purchases to access premium features across all devices.

This separation arises from platform store policies, privacy considerations, synchronization challenges, and differences in feature sets. We hope we were able to answer your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.

  • Planet Altitude
    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

Hello, and thank you for your question.

The negative altitude values for some planets listed as visible result from known issues in the astronomy features, where celestial bodies may appear as visible despite having coordinates below the horizon. This discrepancy can be caused by calculation errors such as incorrect time references, misconfigured observation locations, or temporary data processing problems. Negative altitude indicates that the planet is below the horizon at that time and place, which may conflict with the "visible" list due to these calculation or display inconsistencies.

  • Meteogram // slow load times
    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

Hello, and thank you for your question.

The slower loading times you experience with the meteogram are known and can be influenced by factors such as multimodel meteograms requiring more data, app cache issues, or device-specific app update effects. On iOS, timer logic can mark meteograms as updated even if data is old, requiring a manual refresh to load fresh data. Troubleshooting steps include fully closing and reopening the app, refreshing the meteogram preview, restarting the device, or reinstalling the app.

Developers are aware of caching and zoom-related performance issues and plan a new meteogram implementation in future updates to improve loading times. Temporary workarounds include using the website on a mobile browser or force-restarting the app. We hope we were able to answer your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.

  • Radar map not updated
    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

Hello, and thank you for your question.

Radar maps can sometimes show outdated or frozen data with incorrect timestamps due to server-side processing issues or interruptions in the third-party radar data feeds. This problem may occur across different platforms and browsers, including Edge and Chrome on Windows 10. Common troubleshooting steps such as reloading the page, switching locations, restarting the device, or updating the browser often resolve the issue. However, if the problem persists, it is usually caused by an interruption in the satellite data stream that only the third-party provider can address. meteoblue prioritizes resolving these issues and typically fixes them within a few hours.

  • Family sharing is not working.
    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

Hello, and thank you for your question.

The meteoblue app subscriptions on iOS support Family Sharing only if it is properly configured in the Apple account. Please ensure that Family Sharing is enabled, all family members are added to the Apple Family Group, and that each device is signed in with its respective Apple ID using the same App Store country or region. Additionally, verify that Purchase Sharing is enabled.

If ads still appear, you can try restoring purchases within the app, restarting the devices, or reinstalling the app. Please note that in some cases, meteoblue subscriptions may not support Family Sharing, meaning the subscription is valid only for the Apple ID that purchased it.

We hope we were able to answer your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.

Thank you for the feedback, and apologies for the frustration.

The colour scale is actually deliberate, and here's the reasoning. It's built so you can read a temperature straight off the map by colour alone, without hovering: where it's 18, where it's 20, where it's 22, just by looking. That precision needs a lot of closely spaced steps, which is what gives the palette its softer look. Bolder, high-contrast schemes look punchier but collapse the range into wide bands, so you can only tell temperature to within 10 to 15 degrees rather than 2.
That said, the readability complaints are fair, and the colour scale is separate from the rendering. Issues like overlapping digits and font size are execution problems we're looking at, independent of the palette.
MH_21, thanks for the example. The app and website should use the same scale, so we'll check that divergence.
There's currently no option to revert, and I'd rather say that plainly than leave it vague.
    Best regards,

    The meteoblue team

    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

Hello, and thank you for your question.

The recent app update intentionally introduced pastel and muted earth-tone colors with thinner lines and lower contrast in the meteogram and temperature visuals. We understand that some users find these changes reduce readability and make temperature colors harder to see. Currently, there is no option to revert to the previous color scheme or layout, as the update is based on new technology and data. We are investigating issues such as overlapping digits and font size and considering user feedback to improve contrast and legibility, but no immediate reversal or customization is available.

We hope we were able to answer your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.

Hello, and thank you for your question.

Currently, meteoblue Premium subscriptions for the mobile app can only be purchased through the Google Play Store (Android) or Apple App Store (iOS), with payments linked to the respective app store accounts. There is no option to buy the app or subscription via voucher, coupon, or direct payment outside these stores at this time. Many premium features are available on the meteoblue website, where purchases can be made via browser without app store accounts.

  • weather models
    Miloslav TlamichaM Miloslav Tlamicha

    Hello Horst,
meteoblue uses a combination of its own weather models and selected models from other providers, then blends them together for each forecast.
The two in-house model families are NMM and NEMS. NMM was the first model run by meteoblue, in operation since 2007, and is optimised for complex topography. NEMS is its successor, running since 2013, and is a multiscale model (from global down to local domains) with notably improved cloud and precipitation forecasting. Since 2013, meteoblue has also computed its own global forecast, so it no longer depends on outside models for the large-scale picture.
Alongside these, meteoblue integrates well-known external models, mainly from national weather services, such as GFS (NCEP), IFS (ECMWF) and ICON (DWD), plus reanalysis and observational datasets like ERA5, IMERG and METEOSAT for historical and supporting data.
These are then combined through the meteoblue Learning MultiModel (mLM), which uses machine learning to weigh the different models against real observations and pick whichever is performing best for a given location and situation. That combined result is what you see as the standard forecast.
If you would like to see the individual models side by side for any location, the MultiModel diagram on the website shows each one separately, along with its resolution.
    Best regards,

    The meteoblue team
