I was totally satisfied with this app until 2 days ago when I had a forced update. Before, the temperature colours were very easy to see and to plan my day. Now I have to look and study it hard and it is annoying. The new pastel colours are terrible, difficult to see and personally I think they're disgusting. I really hope you change them back or give us a method so we can revert back to the last version. I cannot see how on earth, whoever managed this update, thinks it's better. Please revert.

Hello, and thank you for your question.

The recent app update intentionally introduced pastel and muted earth-tone colors with thinner lines and lower contrast in the meteogram and temperature visuals. We understand that some users find these changes reduce readability and make temperature colors harder to see. Currently, there is no option to revert to the previous color scheme or layout, as the update is based on new technology and data. We are investigating issues such as overlapping digits and font size and considering user feedback to improve contrast and legibility, but no immediate reversal or customization is available.

We hope we were able to answer your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.

Agree the new UI is a clear regression. Whoever did validate this misses basic knowledge on readability and UX basics.

Also, the fact that the UI is now forcing the painful display of useless capabilities. Who does think I have any interest for webcams showing ugly parking lots 20 or 30 km away? Or the never accurate where2go?

In short, Meteoblue was all about easy reading and efficient color codes. Weather at a glance. It's now fuzzy and confusing, forcing the user to think twice before translating the UI to actionable pieces of info. This applies to every aspect, from temp to reliability (those icons... come on).

Good news is that Meteoblue UI now mimics what every other bad weather app does. So, switching will be easier. Subscription is canceled already, on my side.

Pastels have low saturation. They blend so hard that they're not suitable at all for such a use case. And muted earth tones do make it even worst, by reducing saturation again. Of course people find it reduces readability, because it does.

Just adding a word about consistency. The app colors are different from the website while they should replicate them exactly.
              i.e: https://www.meteoblue.com/de/wetter/maps/blue_vereinigte-staaten_5286039#coords=4.61/51.02/14&map=temperature~daily-max~auto~2 m above gnd~none
I went thru around 20 weather websites in the past hour. I can't fin a single using pastels to show temps. But perhaps your goal is to please people claiming on social networks that "The color-coding for temperatures is just there to scare people, it has always been hot". It's possibly the only valid reason I see for the new color code.

Thank you for the feedback, and apologies for the frustration.

The colour scale is actually deliberate, and here's the reasoning. It's built so you can read a temperature straight off the map by colour alone, without hovering: where it's 18, where it's 20, where it's 22, just by looking. That precision needs a lot of closely spaced steps, which is what gives the palette its softer look. Bolder, high-contrast schemes look punchier but collapse the range into wide bands, so you can only tell temperature to within 10 to 15 degrees rather than 2.
That said, the readability complaints are fair, and the colour scale is separate from the rendering. Issues like overlapping digits and font size are execution problems we're looking at, independent of the palette.
MH_21, thanks for the example. The app and website should use the same scale, so we'll check that divergence.
There's currently no option to revert, and I'd rather say that plainly than leave it vague.
                  Best regards,

                  The meteoblue team

I like the old design as it was much easier to quickly glance at the 1hr or 3hr forecast to see when the rain was coming and how much. The probability and amount of precipitation has their own column and centered font alignment. More columns make it visually easier to comprehend and assess data.

With the new design the wind is now in this column, and it's the first one your eyes will see, good if you are into kitesurfing, but for everyone else that is interested if its gonna rain, it will create a visual block as your skim over the numbers.

Scan for the rain and amount in the new vs classic look and tell me if you agree or not

                    Untitled.jpg

Perhaps this issue can be fixed by at least changing the order from top to bottom: Percent Precipitation, Amount in Millimeters, Wind. Centered Alignment.

Hello! I don't like the new interface, but I guess I can get used to it. However, the wind gusts disappeared and they are a must to know, as a paragliding pilot. Bring the gusts back, please!

PS: I'm sure I'm speaking in the name of all the free flight community. Gliders, paragliders, sailplanes, etc. Maybe hundreds of thousands of users. It's essential information for us.

Another idea, add a toggle to revert back to old interface, but make it a popup on startup that shows an example of both UI and let users decided. Then collect analytics for which view is more popular and can discontinue the unpopular one sometime in the future if its too much work to maintain two views.

The meteoblue team made clear they have little interest in what customers like or not. Despite the drop on the app notation in the past days. So do not expect any change or even options. They know what's better, whatever color coding for data visualisation studies say for years. Let's hope the team in charge of models is more into science.

I loved the meteoblue app, am subscriber and use android pixel 7 pro and desktop/web, probably not for long. The recent UI updates are really bad. Obviously you didn't test this with users as I'm seeing some online complaints about this, including in this forum. I never complain about apps like this but this is one of my very favorite apps. You are good at weather, but now its clear you don't know how to do a major UI update. You should have done a mass notification to your paid users (me!!) and let them see the new UI. Here are my direct dislikes: terrible blue background. You did have a clean darker background and now my screen is all lit up bright, thanks. The view of a day the column 2nd from the right the wind and rain, its so crowded you can't tell which hour you are looking at as there is no separation between each hour. Now you have all this extra stuff below the forecast on the main page of the app, webcams, really? Webcams are for trashy ad-heavy apps, just look at all of the terrible weather apps and lots and lots of them promote webcams. Why? There are few if any settings to change the ui, for example give us a way to turn down the brightness of the bright background on the main page! Also its significantly slower to load. Goto the meteograms page and it just waits and waits, and then after I'm bored I get to see the metograms. It reloads fast so that is ok, but seems like the first time it loads i get a blank screen and just have to wait I guess. Its not my internet, I'm on a super fast connection here. Also when transitioning back to the main page using the back arrow, its slow and I see the circle arrow spinning. Slow UI, not a good sign things are going well for you. There are at least 3 different ways to bring up radar/metograms/etc from the front page. Thats alot of good UI space used up with 3 different ways to launch 4 whole pages. Just not a good design and use of screen space if you ask me.

I want to point out an error in the first page when I open this App with the latest interface. I attach a photo, but after "Parly cloudy" it continues "{,}."
At least, I think it's an error. I have seen similar elsewhere. But can't find it now.

The new UI is dispersive and disorganic. A clerlar step back from what was a great and near perfect app.
Please give a chance to revert to the old interface. As Is now i don't want to use the app any more, because it's totally frustrating.

Unfortunately, I find the new version much less practical than the previous one.

In the Forecast tab, it is now impossible to view today’s wind conditions. You can see the wind forecast for the next 5 days, but the current day’s wind information is no longer available. This was a very useful feature, especially for checking real-time conditions.

Also, the Meteogram is now displayed in German, and I cannot find any option to change the language back.

For me, this update feels like a significant regression in usability. It is a shame, because Meteoblue was one of the most useful weather tools available.

I hope these issues can be fixed in a future update, or that the previous functionality can be restored.
