Seasonal Forecast
-
Seasonal forecast maps on meteoblue display anomalies—differences between predicted monthly mean values and historical reference periods. Reference periods vary by model, and meteoblue offers both third-party models and its own super-ensemble (SA-ENSEMBLE). While these forecasts carry relatively high uncertainty, they are valuable for sectors like agriculture, where long-term planning is essential.
1. Temperature Anomaly (2 m)
• Shows predicted deviation in near-surface (2 m) monthly mean temperature from the reference period.
2. Temperature Anomaly (850 mb)
• Displays predicted deviation in temperature at the 850 mb pressure level (~1,500 m altitude) from the reference period.
3. Precipitation Anomaly
• Indicates difference in predicted monthly precipitation totals compared to the reference period.
4. Snow Depth Anomaly
• Shows predicted difference in monthly mean snow depth from historical averages.
5. Evapotranspiration Anomaly
• Displays predicted difference in evapotranspiration compared to the reference period.
6. Sea Level Pressure Anomaly
• Indicates deviation in predicted monthly mean sea level pressure from the reference period.
7. Wind Speed Anomaly
• Shows predicted deviation in monthly mean wind speeds from historical norms.
8. SST Anomaly (El Niño)
• Displays predicted deviation in monthly mean sea surface temperature (SST), often used for monitoring and forecasting El Niño and La Niña events.
