I’m interested in how people evaluate technical resources when researching complex topics. In weather and climate discussions, reliable sources and clear explanations are especially important when trying to understand scientific claims or unfamiliar technical terminology.

For example, I recently came across a technical guide about sigpatches. Although it is unrelated to meteorology, it made me wonder how others decide whether an online technical guide is trustworthy and useful.

Do you usually check the author, supporting documentation, update history, or references before relying on an external technical resource? What makes you consider a guide credible enough to recommend to others?
