Precipitation maps
Show the amount, distribution, type, and probability of precipitation over a large area.
Can be combined with Sea Level Pressure, Wind Animation, and Graticule by activating the options in the lower right corner of the map.
1 Accumulated precipitation
• Displays total precipitation amounts (mm) for a selected time period.
• Time period is selected via the slider at the bottom.
• Available for the next 12 to 168 hours.
• Example: the 168-hour map shows the total precipitation expected to fall in the next 168 hours.
2 Daily precipitation
• Shows the predicted precipitation amount within one day.
• Expressed in millimetres (mm) and colour-coded according to the legend.
3 Hourly precipitation
• Displays forecast precipitation amounts (mm) within a specific time period.
• Options for hourly, 3-hourly, or 6-hourly values.
4 Accumulated snowfall
• Shows total snowfall amounts (cm) for the selected time period (e.g. next 6 hours).
• Colour-coded according to the legend.
5 Daily snowfall
• Displays predicted snowfall amounts (cm) for a single day.
• Colour-coded according to the legend.
6 Hourly snowfall
• Shows forecast snowfall amounts (cm) within a selected time period.
• Options for hourly, 3-hourly, or 6-hourly values.
7 Snow depth
• Displays estimated total snow on the ground, expressed in metres (m).
• Values can vary locally due to snowfall patterns, wind, slope, exposure, and ground conditions.
