Hello, and thank you very much for your detailed feedback. First of all, we would like to sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused you. We know how important accurate wind data is for your work. Despite all the progress that has been made, weather models are not perfect. This is due, among other things, to the fact that observational data is never complete and some physical processes in the atmosphere can only be calculated approximately. These limitations reflect the fundamental nature of the atmosphere. Wind is simply much more difficult to predict than temperature. It is strongly influenced by local factors such as terrain, local wind conditions, and buildings, so even small local influences can lead to significant deviations. In addition, our forecasts are not based on just one model. We combine several different weather models (NWP models), each of which has its own strengths and uncertainties. This generally makes the forecasts more reliable overall, but it can also lead to larger local deviations in wind speed and direction when the models do not fully agree. The availability of real-time data also plays a role. If wind data from a station is temporarily missing, our system automatically switches to the nearest available station, which sometimes provides only temperature data but not wind data. This can affect the accuracy for that specific location. Thank you again for sharing your experiences with us so clearly. Feedback from experienced users like you helps us continuously improve, especially for challenging use cases such as hot-air ballooning. We hope to continue earning your trust and wish you safe flights and calm winds over Denmark.

For more precise evaluations, you can, for most locations, choose between high-resolution NEMS (4 -10 km resolution) and the low-resolution model (NEMS30). The availability of high-resolution NEMS data depends on the location and starts in 2008. The low-resolution NEMS with a spatial resolution of 30 km resolution is available as of 1984 which are all updated daily until the present. ERA5T provides data since 1940, which are continuously updated but with a delay of 8 days. This is a re-analysis dataset that uses satellite data for post-processing. The dataset between 1940 and 1980 therefore might be of lower accuracy than the data from 1980 onwards due to the absence of satellite data. The ERA5 model is a legacy version of the ERA5T model and will be removed in the near future. Data are available between 1979 and March 2022, but this dataset will not be further updated. We, therefore, recommend using the ERA5T re-analysis model. The weather data is always calculated for the grid cell centre and the average altitude of the grid cell. Temperature (and temperature-related) data are additionally downscaled to the respective altitude of the location. The location's altitude is defined using a high-resolution (80 meters) topography model.

Hello, and thank you for your question. Subscriptions purchased through mobile apps are linked to the Apple ID or Google Play account used for the purchase and only function on devices using the same store account. Website subscriptions are separate, tied to meteoblue web accounts, and do not extend to mobile apps. Consequently, app and website subscriptions operate independently, requiring separate purchases to access premium features across all devices. This separation arises from platform store policies, privacy considerations, synchronization challenges, and differences in feature sets. We hope we were able to answer your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.

Hello, and thank you very much for your question. The Maps plugin is a separate add-on and is not included by default in the Gold package. The Gold package includes advanced weather data and features, but does not include the Maps plugin, which was specifically developed to integrate meteoblue map tiles with customizable weather maps and animations. This plugin is typically licensed or subscribed to separately. We hope we’ve answered your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.
