On 12 August 2026, with the 12 UTC forecast cycle, MeteoSwiss introduced changes to the following components of its operational ICON model system: ICON-CH1-EPS, ICONCH2-EPS, and KENDA-CH1. These changes will reduce systematic model errors in near-surface temperature and relative humidity. Users can expect the following changes to data quality: – Reduction of systematic mean error (ME) as well as standard deviation of the error (STDE) for near-surface temperature and relative humidity. – Slightly improved uncertainty information for near-surface temperature and near-surface dewpoint temperature. – Removed "block-patterns" in direct solar radiation. Users need to be aware of the following technical impacts of the changes: – No user action required. https://opendatadocs.meteoswiss.ch/assets/files/2026-07-28 ICON-Info-41b1738774b367cfb950915ed57fd6a1.pdf Now that meteoblue is using these models, users should hopefully see some slight improvements in forecast accuracy in the region.

Hello, We’re glad you asked about the color scale! Here’s the thing: At meteoblue, it’s based on a combination of historical climate data (specifically, 30 years of weather model simulations), current measurements, and model forecasts. This scale is fixed and cannot currently be customized or switched in our standard products. One point that often causes confusion: Even though the temperature maps sometimes show current measurements from the last few hours or days, the same fixed color scale is always used for display so it doesn’t change depending on the time period. If you have any further questions about this, please feel free to contact us again via a support ticket.

Hello, and thank you very much for your question. The Maps plugin is a separate add-on and is not included by default in the Gold package. The Gold package includes advanced weather data and features, but does not include the Maps plugin, which was specifically developed to integrate meteoblue map tiles with customizable weather maps and animations. This plugin is typically licensed or subscribed to separately. We hope we’ve answered your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.

Hello Laurent Frasnay, Thank you very much for your feedback on this issue! Normally, renaming a location is as simple as swiping on the location and then tapping the rename icon. What you described at the time white text on a white background and the missing “OK” button when renaming was definitely not intended behavior of the app. If you’re still experiencing this issue, the following steps may help: Close the app completely and reopen it Switch to a different location and then switch back Restart your iPhone Delete the app and reinstall it from the App Store (this will also clear the cache and app data, since it’s unfortunately not possible to clear the cache separately on iOS) Please let us know if the error is still occurring for you or if the problem has since resolved itself.

@Dorian-Hoffmann Thank you—it looks like the fix worked. :) I hope everyone has a slightly cooler summer.

As part of our cooperation program for scientific or humanitarian projects, meteoblue offers students and researchers free access to historical weather data for 3 locations through our history+ interface and to weather forecast data through our Free Weather API. Free Weather API is an automated meteoblue product and the easiest way to test the meteoblue weather API. It is available for free for one year, and includes 10 million credits. For historical data, we provide a free access to our unique weather archive through history+ (for up to 3 locations) or with a high discount (for more locations or complex requests) for as long as you are using our standard data without special requirements (this includes and requires correspondence in English). The historical weather data available through the history+ interface are simulation data with high precision (stored forecasts, not measurements). Usually, they are more precise than measurement data from a station more than 10 to 50 km away from the desired location, they will be 100% complete (which very seldom happens for measurements), much more detailed (everything based on hourly intervals), available since 1940 and valid also for places without measurements. More information can be found here. All other services and products can be provided by meteoblue upon request at a 50% discount from the list price. For scientific and humanitarian projects, we can provide support - free of charge - with our standard products, within a cooperation agreement and within the possibilities of professional technical assistance, in the following languages: English, German, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese. For access to our free cooperation agreement, we request that the conditions for cooperation are met, and that you provide the following complete information : Title and objective of the work: Type of work: (Project, bachelor, master, private or another) Name and address of university or responsible organisation Department or organizational unit Name and address and e-mail of the author(s) & official address Name and e-mail address of the supervisor & official address: Planned beginning and end of work (dates): DD.MM.YYYY Short description of the methodology for use of meteoblue data.

Hello, and thank you for your question. The premium subscription you purchased on your iPad is linked to your Apple App Store account and cannot be used on your Android phone. Subscriptions are valid on any device using the same store account but cannot be transferred between iOS and Android platforms. Therefore, to have premium access on both your iPad and Android phone, separate subscriptions are required for each platform. Purchases are managed exclusively by the respective app stores, and meteoblue cannot transfer subscriptions between them. We hope we were able to answer your questions and wish you pleasant weather with meteoblue.
